Disaster Recovery

We save your investments and recover your data in case of disaster, through a Disaster Recovery and Business Continuity plan developed by an IT team with the most prestigious certifications in the world and skills in all IT areas.

It cannot be predicted and that is why it can hit any company hard. A disaster, whatever its nature, puts pressure on the processes and resources of any company, regardless of structure and size. Being caught in such a situation without an action plan can lead to an inability to operate over a short term or even forever.

The only thing that can mitigate the impact of an unforeseen event such as a fire, an earthquake, a cyberattack, an equipment failure, or a power outage is to develop a response plan.

From an IT standpoint, this detailed plan is called Disaster Recovery and it has the ability to support the company’s critical functions to keep it running.

Without it, your business could be severely affected.

Disaster Recovery

Here’s what the statistics say about the risks that arise when a company does not have a Disaster Recovery Plan:

  • 93% of companies that suffered a major disaster and did not have a Disaster Recovery plan did not fully recover. 60% of them closed within 6 months of the event.
  • More than 50% of companies have had a full interruption of service, for more than one working day, in the last 5 years.
  • The company’s reputation is in danger of being destroyed.
  • You will incur very high costs to resume your business.
  • You can receive sanctions from the authorities because you will not be able to provide the requested information.
  • You will not be able to comply with your contractual obligations to customers.
  • Long-term employee productivity decreases.

Create a secure future for your business. The Benefits of a Disaster Recovery Plan

To minimize all these risks, a Disaster Recovery plan is needed. It details the actions and processes required for the business to resume its critical functions, without major revenue losses.

You can regard the cost of a well-developed Disaster Recovery plan as the minimum price needed to avoid bankruptcy. With such a plan, you make sure that your IT services work continuously and that force majeure events will not lead to your bankruptcy.

Magnetic IT Services’ Disaster Recovery Plan is customized to support your business at critical times. It will be your insurance policy that will allow you to obtain:

  • Predictable costs
  • Unaltered performance of the systems
  • Avoiding your company’s fall into disrepute
  • Minimizing business interruptions
  • Reducing losses caused by non-functional services
  • Reducing service restoration time
  • Full control over critical data and applications

Your business needs to work, no matter what. Your Business Continuity Plan starts with us

A Disaster Recovery Plan is implemented in addition to the Business Continuity Plan.

This means that your data will need to be stored in another dedicated location, in a Private Cloud or in a Public Cloud.

When choosing a Cloud option, you need to make sure that the provider is GDPR compliant. This will prevent any personal data confidentiality issues.

Disaster Recovery Cost/Time Diagram

The location for Disaster Recovery (DR) can be of several types:

A backup location to install equipment that can take over the restoration of services, in the event of a disaster. The solution, although it provides some cost advantages, increases the restoration time, because the equipment does not exist or is turned off.

A DR location, with pre-installed equipment, which has the connectivity and hardware needed to take over critical services and applications. The data is replicated from the primary site at certain predetermined time intervals. Data loss in the synchronization intervals between the two locations is allowed.

It is a mirror copy of the production site. This backup space is fitted with pre-installed equipment, which has connectivity and the necessary hardware and software to take over critical services and apps. Here, the equipment works without interruptions, like the main site, to ensure real-time data synchronization.

We assess. We plan. We test. Our approach to a Disaster Recovery plan that works

A Disaster Recovery Plan can make the difference between bankruptcy and business continuity. It is a complex solution that must be implemented correctly, by a capable team, across the range of IT skills. An incorrectly implemented plan only generates additional costs.

The Magnetic IT Services team has both the experience and the procedures necessary for the solution it implements to be the right one for your business.

We work methodically and in detail, following the steps below:

Evaluation of existing infrastructure and applications

  • Hardware component evaluation
  • Software component evaluation
  • Identifying network equipment
  • Identify the cloud solutions used
  • Building the network diagram
  • Identifying apps and dependencies
  • Identifying business processes

Assessing the risks to which the company is exposed

  • Identifying vulnerabilities and the probability of their occurrence
  • The impact of each component on the business performance
  • Determining the critical apps and data
  • Defining restoration objectives

In this step, the active involvement of the company’s management is needed to correctly identify the impact of the interruption of critical systems for a minute, an hour, a day, or more.

We will define RTO (Recovery Time Objective) as the maximum acceptable period in which systems can be inaccessible without major consequences. If the maximum acceptable period is long enough, a difference can be made between a Cold DR, Warm DR and Hot DR scenario.

At the same time, we will define RPO (Recovery Point Objective) as the maximum amount of data that can be lost. The RPO always indicates the minimum frequency of data backup.

Planning and implementation

  • Disaster Recovery Plan Design
  • Acquisition of necessary equipment/licenses
  • Detailed process documentation
  • Implementing data replication
  • Informing the teams and people involved

At this stage, the implementation plan is outlined, the necessary approvals are obtained, and the restoration strategy is communicated. The systems are configured to synchronize DR-based data according to the agreed RTO/RPO.

Testing and management

Checking the Disaster Recovery plan is the final component of the Business Continuity strategy. Effective disaster scenario testing ensures business continuity.

It is necessary to regularly test and constantly manage the solution, so that the new needs of the company can be found in the Disaster Recovery plan.
