Virtualization

Minimize the costs for managing your company’s growing information resources through virtualization solutions implemented by certified IT specialists.

What is Virtualization?

The term virtualization refers to the creation of a virtual version of a physical server or computer. Hardware virtualization allows a physical server to be split into several logical computers called virtual machines (VMs). They work like a real computer, with its own operating system. This way, a physical server can support a large number of virtual machines, reducing costs by optimizing computing resources and reducing power consumption.

Virtualization is possible by using a special software called hypervisor, which simulates the hardware of the physical server. In a non-virtualized work environment, the server operating system is installed directly on the physical machine. When virtualized, the operating system runs as if it were installed on hardware. In reality, it is virtually simulated and allows companies to benefit from more computing resources.

What are the benefits of virtualization

Emerging from the need of companies to increase computing resources running on the same physical machine, virtualization has brought them plenty of other benefits. Virtualization solutions simplify infrastructure management, provide flexibility, and reduce operating costs.

Benefits:

  • Reduce your carbon footprint: A single virtualized server can save up to 7000 kWh per year.
  • Reduce operating costs by cooling server rooms: Because you will need fewer physical servers, the amount of heat they produce will be less.
  • Reduce the administration and maintenance costs of physical servers, as well as power costs: Hardware virtualization reduces the use of physical servers.
  • You can resume your activities much faster, in the event of a physical server failure: Deploying a new virtual server is quick and easy. If a physical server fails, the virtual machine can be restored in a matter of minutes.
  • Backup is much easier: Virtualization has a number of features that can be exploited to simplify the backup process.
  • Improves service availability: Virtual machines can move between physical servers while they are running.
  • Provides software and hardware abstraction: Virtual servers can run on any hardware vendor.
  • The Disaster Recovery plan becomes much simpler, and the availability of services increases: Virtual machines can be replicated to another location very quickly.
  • Preparing your company for cloud migration: Because they use the same technology, a fully virtualized environment mimics the behavior of the cloud. Migrating to the cloud has now become much easier. In addition, you can choose to deploy virtual machines directly to the cloud.

What is a container?

A container takes virtualization to the next level. It is a software package that includes all the necessary dependencies: code, configuration, and libraries so that it can run on any server. Each container is assigned an isolated portion of operating system resources such as processor, memory, disk, and network.

The container-type software can run on both Microsoft and Linux technology. The images will run the same way, regardless of the infrastructure.
